What is a needle valve?
Needle valves (or plunger valves) are regulation valves that allow for a precise control and regulation of the flow rate and the water pressure. Precision is achieved through the gentle movement of the shaft, which enables the adjustment piston to be positioned according to the needs of the control system.
Where to use needle valves?
Needle valves can be used in many different applications with different flow or pressure regulation conditions. In water treatment, distribution, dams, reservoirs, power plants and industry needle valves are used for:
- Flow control
- Pressure regulation
- Pump start
- Turbine by-pass
- Discharge
- Reservoir inlets
- Air regulation
When to use needle valves?
Compared to diaphragm control valves, the needle valves can be used with higher differential pressures and our standard range covers a pressure range up to PN40, and on request up to PN100. Standard sizes range from DN80 to DN2200 and, upon request, up to DN2400. Needle valves can be manually actuated or can be controlled by electrical, hydraulic or pneumatic actuation.
